God has plans. He never wonders what is coming next. God had plans prior to creation and He has plans for the end of all things. The plans of God are always good, always right, and always according to His will and counsel. Consider the words of the Apostle Paul “…God works all things according to the counsel of His will.” (Eph. 1:11).
The plans that God has are not general, obscure, or even all-purpose. They are specific and precise. When King David was preparing to build the Temple thousands of years ago, the plans, the layout, the specifications were not up to him. “All this,” said David, “the LORD made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.” (1Chr. 28:19).
The plans of God have eternal purpose. There is nothing that God does which becomes outdated, obsolete or archaic. For example, it was not that the Old Covenant and sacrificial system became worn out, inadequate, and dysfunctional, on the contrary it had a specific purpose that pointed toward the glory and completeness of the New Covenant in Jesus Christ. Psalm 33:11 states, “The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations.”
Where do we go with all of this? The point is that God has plans for you! Yes there is a plan even though we do not often times sense or perceive it. However, it should bring us comfort to meditate on the truth that God has a plan and that He is working out that plan. Our challenge is to stay out of His way, submit daily to Jesus the King of Glory, be sensitive to the direction of the Spirit, and seek to please God in our conversations, relationships, vocations, vacations, and in the minutes that make up every hour.
Allow God’s plan in your life today; it is much better than yours!
