The Sting Removed From Death
What a great season this is when we reflect on the epic events that transpired in Jerusalem 2000 years ago. It is quite difficult to wrap our minds around the many facets which surround God providing salvation to the world through His Son Jesus, whose human life on Earth began in a wooden manger and seemingly ended on a wooden cross. But God be praised that the story did not end there, because after three days, He rose again and proved that death has lost its sting.
I would like to share a story I recently came across illustrating this wonderful truth. A boy and his father were traveling in a car when a bee blew through the open window. The boy was highly allergic to bee stings so both he and his father knew that his life was in danger. As the boy frantically jumped around trying to avoid the agitated bee, the father calmly grabbed the bee. When he opened his hand, the bee began to fly again, terrorizing the boy again. The father then said, “Look son,” holding up his hand with the implanted stinger, “his stinger is gone, he can’t hurt you any longer.”
If a bee loses its stinger when it stings, how much more has death has lost its sting when it stung Jesus. "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 15:55-57).
May we praise our living Lord who ever lives to make intercession for us.
